The Managing Director and CEO of Hot 98.3 FM, Mrs. Chris Anyanwu has formally decided to seek the Senatorial ticket for the Owerri zone. Mrs. Anyanwu who is also the Publisher of the Sunday Magazine (TSM), now TSM TV Show, said her desire to run for the election was borne out of her interest to give an effective representation to the Owerri zone, the media and the women.
The former Imo State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Youth Development, who was imprisoned for her alleged involvement in the 1995 fathom coup by late General Sani Abacha, has worked very hard to merit the Senatorial ticket. As a Commissioner in Imo State, she established the present FM Station the Imo Broadcasting Corporation (IBC), Owerri, the Mbari Cultural Centre and the renovation and upgrading of the present Dan Anyiam Stadium to International standard.
Prior to her current stint in politics, Mrs. Anyanwu was involved in re-shaping the broadcast industry, by setting up the TSM broadcast training school, production of award winning, soul searching and inspiring television programmes for both radio and television. She has also authored many books as well as involved in the mobilization of women for leadership roles.
Her Company, Spectrum Broadcasting Company, operates Abuja’s number one radio station, Hot 98.3 FM. The station is also the largest radio station in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with the most far-reaching coverage of eight states, the largest by any private FM Radio Station in Nigeria.
Quite recently, the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC granted Mrs. Anyanwu’s request to extend her FM radio signals to Owerri, Imo State and other parts of the country. When operational in these zones the station is expected to provide employment to a large number of the jobless youths as well as help reshape the Nigerian society.
Mrs. Anyanwu is seeking her mandate under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and your VOTE in 2007!
